National Community Development Week: April 6–10

Arlington's Department of Planning and Community Development has designated April 6–10, 2026, as National Community Development Week, marking the town's 52nd year as a CDBG entitlement community. A weeklong social media campaign will highlight CDBG-funded programs. AmpUp! Comprehensive Plan Comment Deadline: April 12

Update: Arlington's draft AmpUp! Comprehensive Plan, which will guide land use, housing, transportation, and economic development through 2036, is open for public comment through Saturday, April 12. Street Sweeping Begins Tomorrow, April 6

Update: Arlington DPW's spring townwide street sweeping program starts Monday, April 6, running weekdays 7 a.m.–3 p.m. for six to eight weeks. Residents should move vehicles off the street during their scheduled sweep week to allow curb-to-curb cleaning. Town of Arlington

Emma's Court: 43-Unit Affordable Housing Breaks Ground

The Housing Corporation of Arlington broke ground March 10 on Emma's Court at 10 Sunnyside Avenue, a five-story, 100% affordable Passive House building with 43 rental units for households at or below 60% of Area Median Income. The project leveraged roughly $1.45 million in local CPA and Affordable Housing Trust funds to secure more than $24 million in state and federal subsidies. HCA Acquires 840–846 Mass. Ave. to Preserve Affordable Units

The Housing Corporation of Arlington acquired 840–846 Massachusetts Avenue and Newman Way, preserving the properties as permanently affordable housing and preventing significant rent increases for existing tenants. Patriots' Day 251st Celebration: Full Schedule Released

Update: Arlington's full schedule for the 251st anniversary of Patriots' Day (April 18–20) is now confirmed, including the Menotomy Beer Hall at Town Hall (noon–6 p.m., April 18), free guided tours and a Family Day at the Jason Russell House, a Patriots' Day Celebration at Whittemore Park on April 20, and a Paul Revere and William Dawes reenactment around noon April 20. The 'Riding Through History' public art installation — two life-size painted horse sculptures — is on display at Whittemore Park and Broadway Plaza through August 2026. YourArlington

Studio ACA Spring Gala — Saturday, April 11

Update: The Arlington Center for the Arts hosts its annual spring gala, 'Studio ACA: A Disco Extravaganza,' on Saturday, April 11, 7–10 p.m. at Arlington Town Hall. The evening features a live DJ, food and drinks including Arlington Brewing Company craft beer, a live auction, and presentation of the 2026 Alan McClennen Community Arts Award to the Arlington Housing Authority.
